Brian Daboll and the Giants lost to the Denver Broncos 32-33, blowing a 19-0 lead in the 4th quarter. The Giants’ defensive effort in the 4th quarter was in shambles as they attempted to stop the surging Broncos QB Bo Nix. Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen appeared to be on the hot seat after Week 7’s embarrassing loss. Brown’s job appears to be safe for the moment, but the 4th quarter collapse in Denver is alarming. Nonetheless, the Giants fail to secure Jaxson Dart’s 3rd consecutive win against a formidable Broncos defensive unit. The Giants will travel to Philadelphia in Week 8 to face Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.

Big Blue’s Week 8 Fantasy outlook

Giants QB Jaxson Dart was magnificent in Week 7, completing 15/33 passes for 283 yards, 3 TD, 1 interception, and 4 carries for 11 rushing yards and 1 TD. Dart navigated through the Broncos’ defense nicely. Finding his targets effortlessly most of the time. Despite facing constant pressure, the rookie looked composed and decisive in the pocket, choosing to run only when necessary. Dart’s Week 8 matchup in Philly is projected to be a shootout, so I expect Dart to put up similar numbers for fantasy managers. Dart is a must-start in fantasy regardless of who he faces going forward.

WR Wan’Dale Robinson had another solid performance in Week 7 as the Dart’s favorite target. As the lead receiver for the Giants, Robinson has been a valuable and underrated player in fantasy. Although Robinson mainly works out of the slot, the speedy receiver produced 6 receptions for 95 yards. Robinson could not find the endzone in Week 7 but remains Dart’s preferred target. Robinson’s value is special because his short-to-intermediate area of work allows Jaxson Dart to get the ball out quickly and keep the Giants’ drive moving downfield. Robinson’s Week 8 mathcup in Philly is favorable, so fantasy managers can feel starting the receiver as a WR3/flex option.

Rookie RB Cam Skattebo had a modest performance in Week 7. The power back had 16 carries for 60 yards while adding 3 receptions for 34 yards and 1 touchdown. Skattebo’s receiving skills were in full effect Sunday despite not finding much space on the ground. Skattebo’s fantasy value continues to rise, especially with fellow rookie QB Jaxson Dart commanding the Giants offense masterfully. RB Tyrone Tracy had 9 carries for 46 yards and 1 touchdown, but remains the 2nd option to Skattebo. Tracy’s fantasy usage is low but remains a significant stash barring a Skattebo injury or change of pace game script.

TE Theo Johnson was busy in Week 7. Johnson was quiet in the prior game but ended Sunday night with 3 receptions for 66 yards and 1 touchdown. The 3 catches are low, but Johnson’s deep catch ability is a vital asset for the Dart and the Giants. Johnson is one of the Darts’ favorite red zone targets, so fantasy managers should take note of that for his Week 8 game against the Eagles. Fellow Giants TE Daniel Bellinger also continues to perform well with a Week 7 stat line of 3 receptions for 88 yards and a TD. Bellinger’s usage does impact Johnson’s volume a bit. With Malik Nabers done for the season, Dart’s receiving options remain limited, so expect the Giants to lean on their Tight Ends.

The Jets Remain Grounded

The New York Jets remain grounded in Week 7, losing to the Carolina Panthers 13-6. The Jets are now 0-7, the only team in the NFL without a win on the season. Despite Jets coach Aaron Glenn’s support for QB Justin Fields faltered during last week’s game. Field was ultimately replaced by veteran QB Tyrod Taylor, so Fields’ role seems to be diminished for the most part. Before being removed, Fields completed 6/12 passes for 46 yards while adding 4 carries for 22 yards and no touchdowns. Field should not be on fantasy teams, as I mentioned last week. The young QB is not fit to lead any NFL team and remains a risky play despite his rushing abilities.

Jets QB Tyrod Taylor completed 10/22 passes for 126 yards, 0 TDs, 2 interceptions, along with 3 carries for 11 yards. Taylor performed admirably in Week 7 and should be the Jets’ starting QB going forward. Taylor’s presence commanding the Jets’ offense is not ideal, but at least he can keep offensive drives alive. The Jets face the Bengals in Week 8, so it’s not getting easier for coach Glenn and his crew. Managers looking for a QB during BYEmageodon should consider Taylor as a risky start with upside.

RB Breece Hall was held in check in Week 7 with 11 carries for 38 yards while adding 2 receptions for 14 yards and no TD. Hall’s performance was impacted due to the Jets’ QB situation. Hall remains as a trade target for now, but fantasy managers should continue to start Hall, especially in Week 8 against a Bengals defense allowing 154.6 yards on the ground to RBs this year. The Jets offense does get a small boost in Week 8, especially if Tyrod Taylor is under center.

Jets WR Tyler Johnson led all receivers with 3 receptions for 60 yards. Johnson filled in well for Garret Wilson, who suffered a knee injury in Week 6. With Fields now seemingly benched for now, Johnson will garner waiver wire value as his volume as a top receiver for the Jets will increase.

The Jets TE Mason Taylor also performed below his projections with 3 receptions for 31 yards. Mason’s usage remains steady, and with Tyrod Taylor now under center for Week 8, I expect more targets for Mason Taylor going forward. The Bengals have the worst pass defense in the NFL this season, allowing over 250+ yards to receivers. Mason is a top 10 TE for me this week.
