Shane Brown is Gone

NY Giants interim coach Mike Kafka decided to fire the team’s defensive coordinator Shane Brown after losing in overtime in Week 12 to the Lions. The Giants once again played exceptionally well during the first half of the game. The Giants’ lead, however, began to disappear in the 2nd half, as the Lions scored a crucial touchdown thanks to Lions RB Jamyrr Gibbs. With 28 seconds left in the game in the 4th, Lions Kicker Jake Bates tied the game with 59 59-yard field goal. The Giants crumbled in OT, giving up another 69-yard rushing touchdown. Giants Interim coach Mike Kafka later stated he decided to fire Shane Brown. Charlie Bullin will step into the role in Week 13 as the Giants face the 8-3 New England Patriots.

Jameis Winston

Winston delivered another solid performance in Week 12, completing 18/33 pass attempts for 366 yards with 2 TDs and 1 interception. Winston added 13 yards on 3 carries on the ground as well as catching a 33-yard touchdown pass from Giants WR Gunner Olszewski. The veteran QB made his presence known in Week 12, refusing to let the Giants lose. Winston’s heroics for Week 12, however, have come to an end with rookie QB Jaxson Dart expected to start in Week 13.

Jaxson Dart

Giants’ rookie is scheduled to take over the Giants’ offense in Week 13 after suffering a concussion in Week 10. Dart technically cleared the concussion protocol before the Giants’ Week 12 matchup, but coach Mike Kafka decided to give the rookie extra time to rest and reset. Fantasy managers can expect Dart to limit his rushing attempts under a new Giants offensive scheme now that Brian Daboll is gone.

Wan’Dale Robinson

Robinson was excellent Sunday, playing at an elite level in Week 12 with 9 receptions for 165 yards and 1 touchdown. The Slot receiver’s speed and route-running ability have been key to his breakout year with the Giants. Robinson’s role and the Giants’ WR1 remain steady despite the addition of Isiah Hodgins. Fantasy managers can expect another big game from Robinson in Week 13, facing a weak Patriots pass defense.

Isaiah Hodgins

Hodgins is playing extremely well for the Giants, learning the playbook quickly and performing consistently each week. Hogdins ended Week 12 with 2 receptions on 6 targets for 42 yards and 1 touchdown. With Dart returning to action in Week 13 for the Giants, Hodgins’ target share in the rezdone will increase with his 6’4 frame. Hodgins was a big threat for Winston in the red zone, so expect to see Dart look his way in Week 13.

Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Tracy was solid in Week 12 for the Giants with 20 carries for 62 yards and no touchdowns. Tracy also added 3 receptions for 66 yards to end his week, delivering 16 fantasy points for managers. Tracy handled the bulk of the carries despite splitting carries with veteran back Devin Singletary. Fantasy managers should temper expectations heading into Week 13 as the Patriots’ run defense is ranked 2nd in the NFL, allowing 87.7 yards to RBs this season.

Theo Johnson

Johnson’s performance in Week 12 was impactful once again for the Giants. Johnson has emerged as a top 10 TE this season, regardless of who’s throwing him the ball. Johnson ended Week 12 with the 2nd highest receiving yards for the Giants, with 3 receptions for 66 yards and no touchdowns. Johnson remains TD dependent every week, but the heavy passing volume in the Giants’ scheme makes him a valuable starter in fantasy lineups the rest of the season. Week 13 provides another appealing matchup for the 2nd-year TE to feast on the vulnerable Patriots’ pass defense.

Devin Singletary

Singletary performed well in Week 12, getting 14 carries for 47 rushing yards and no receptions. The Giants chose to lean on Tracy Jr. on Sunday, and despite a serviceable workload, the veteran was unable to produce much on the ground. The Giants will continue to split carries with both RBs, but the pendulum is swinging in Tracy Jr.’s favor heading into a tough Week 13 matchup with New England. Singletary remains touchdown-dependent and a risky play in Week 13.

Breece Hall

Hall was a workhorse in Week 12 for the Jets. The veteran handled 16 carries for 44 yards on the ground, adding 4 receptions for 75 yards and no TD. The Jets continue to rely on Hall tremendously each week, and despite a losing season, Hall remains a top 5 RB based on volume. Fantasy managers can feel good heading into a Week 13 matchup with a leaky Falcons defense.

Tyrod Taylor

The veteran QB played admirably in Week 12 for the Jets, completing 17/28 pass attempts for 222 yards,1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Taylor played well in the 1st half but was unable to keep several drives alive later in the game. Don’t expect huge numbers from Taylor even with a favorable schedule remaining. The Jets are rebuilding.

John Metchie III

The 2022 draft pick by the Texans has taken his opportunity with the Jets and has so far proved to be a solid receiver in the NFL. Metchie III has surpassed fantasy expectations again in Week 12, with 6 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown late in the 2nd quarter. The Jets’ favorable schedule ahead begins with a Week 13 matchup against the Patriots. Fantasy managers looking to make a playoff push in their leagues should consider Metchie a viable option if they’re thin at WR or in Super Flex leagues.

Mason Taylor

Taylor’s production has fallen off a cliff since the Jets’ BYE Week. In Week 12, the TE finished with 3 receptions for 21 yards. With Breece Hall commanding a heavy workload and John Metchie III’s steady performances, Taylor’s targets have made him a third option for the Jets. Week 13 is an inviting opportunity for Taylor to bounce back. He remains a risky play even with a vulnerable Patriots defense.

Andonai Mitchell

Mitchell was third in receiving yards in Week 12 with 2 receptions for 42 yards and no score. Mitchell is a serious threat option for the Jets, so expect some big plays in Week 13 against the Patriots. Mitchell is a deep league flex option, but his usage is still too low to put into fantasy lineups.
