The New York Yankees lost their 2nd consecutive game against Arizona Wednesday night, the final score was 4-3. The Bomber’s drought at the plate continued last night being held to 0 runs through 9 innings. Yankees SS Anthony Volpe put the bombers on the board in the 9th with a 3-run home run to right field, his 4th home run in the first 5 games of the season, but the Yankees could not complete the comeback.

Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen, kept hitters guessing most of the night, but the Yanks were able to make contact at the plate. Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón did pitch well against the Diamondbacks despite lasting 6.0 IP, with 5 SO, 4 BB, and 4 ER for the night. Rodón was uninspiring on the mound, and one can argue that he was a completely different pitcher from opening day. He could not settle in the 1st two innings giving up 4 runs total. Eventually, he was able to relax but it was too late into the game.

Carlos Rodón’s inconsistent starts paired with his inability to keep the ball out of the outfield seats has been an issue since he agreed to a 6-year $162,000,000 contract in the Bronx. There’s no denying Rodón has been terrible, he is not the pitcher the Yankees expected. He is a glorified 2 pitch left-hander whose talent does not coincide with such a large contract. In Rodón’s 11-year career, he’s only registered 3 double-digit wins in a season, the first was in 2021 with the Chicago Whitesox (13), in 2022′ with the San Francisco Giants (14), and in 2024 with the New York Yankees.
